The Mountbatten Lodge – Ranakpur

This is a personal letter by the owner of this lodge, Reggie Singh  – this explains much of it…

Dear Guests,

Welcome and thank you for choosing to stay at The Mountbatten Lodge, Ranakpur.

I have just opened the lodge this October and we all are very excited to welcome you here.

It’s been my endeavor to recreate the past, the colonial times and the days of The Raj. I would like to give my guests an experience of the ‘real thing’ – nothing recreated or cosmetic. You will notice the same on our menus, safari, service and also the ambiance.

Most of the staff here belong to my clan – The Rathores who established Jodhpur in the year 1459. We have a responsibility towards them. Though uneducated they are proud people and you can see their desire to please. Also to provide employment for the local tribal’s all the construction work of the Lodge has been done by them.

The Mountbatten Lodge, Ranakpur shares its boundary with The Kumbalgarh wildlife sanctuary and can boast of having two of the more important historical sights of the country at its backdoor – the famous Ranakpur Jain Temples and The Kumbalgarh Fort (famous for having the second longest wall after the great wall of China). The Lodge is an exclusive 4 suite property in a stunning location. It is definitely a 2 night destination for guests staying in Udaipur or driving between Jodhpur and Udaipur. Here one can take a safari/ trek to the Ranakpur Temples or The Kumbalgarh Fort. Picnic lunches ,Mobile leopard Safaris, Champagne sunsets either by Elephant or Horse along with a tribal village visit can be also be organized. Day trip Safari Lunches from Udaipur can also be done here as we are only 80 Kms away ( an hour and a half drive).

I sincerely hope you will have a pleasant stay with us.

Cheers!!

Reggie Singh.
