Taj Fisherman’s Cove – Chennai
Taj Fisherman’s Cove, Chennai, built on the ramparts of an old Dutch fort. It remains a charming beach resort in the Bay of Bengal, where fun lovers return for good times every time. The Dutch, upon arriving at the coast, built a magnificent fort in the 18th century. However, they were attacked and driven out by the Nawab of Arcot, who in turn was tricked by the French and ultimately had to surrender. The British vanquished the French, and with them the fort remained until independence. The Fisherman’s Cove hotel is built on the ramparts of this ruined fortress. The hotel was opened in 1974. In 1996, the Indian Hotels Company entered a technical assistance agreement with Covelong Beach Hotel (India) Ltd to run the hotel as a Taj branded property and under their branding named it Taj Fisherman’s Cove, better know as just Fisherman’s Cove.
The 40 km drive from the airport to the hotel is surely not that long. You will be awestruck to see the live musicians entertain guests in the open air space between the lobby and the pool. In the renewed cottages and villas, the nouvelle restaurant, the high energy bar, and the spa are a pleasure high-points. The Chef here remains as eager to wow you with specially designed exclusive meals.
