Lying at the heart of an untrammeled wilderness, where leopards roam wild and free, is SUJÁN’s JAWAI. Staying true to the goal of conservation without compromising on comfort, JAWAI has 10 luxurious tents, each with oodles of space and privacy that rest encapsulated in a landscape surrounded by craggy granite formations of caves, kopjes, Anogeissus scrub and winding sand river–beds.

The vibrant Rabari herdsmen who have shared this landscape with wildlife for centuries signify the organic and continuing link between local culture and wildlife, a relationship SUJÁN is deeply committed to nurturing, in the face of rapid change as a means of fulfilling our commitment to conservation; of cultures and wildlife. These aims are: a preservation of the Earth as a source of life through low-impact eco-tourism, wedding local cultures and communities to this model through commerce and enterprise, and sharing our creation with a partnership of like-mindedness across the world. Our model becomes a method for the preservation of the earth and a SUJÁN camp becomes the centre of a custodianship for our environs.

Designed by the owners, Anjali and Jaisal Singh, JAWAI represents a style that combines subtle opulence with abundant adventure; a vigorous rendition of camping at its finest. Created in a timeless flourish with canvas, stainless steel and leather accouterments, each tent at JAWAI is abutted by a private deck that looks upon unobstructed, spectacular views of the dramatic wilderness around. The use of local stone and stainless steel brings an understated, elegant and light feeling to the camp. An inviting Dining Tent and a scattering of discreetly located areas to unwind in form part of the Encampment. The celebrated artisan, Michael Aram’s charming collection of decorative artifacts; hand-crafted using age-old traditions of Indian workmanship complete the winsome furnishings.

Leopards are JAWAI’s predominant attraction and a thriving population of the felines has always ranged across this region. The mystery of the Big Cat is unravelled for guests by informed guides, and yet, a measure of that mystery remains long after a sighting is over, to be relived forever.Trying our best to follow the schedule of our wild neighbours, we recommend an early start to your morning Game Drive, certainly before the sun is up. Our customised 4×4 jeeps, with a driver-tracker and naturalist on board will convey you expertly to every corner of JAWAI.
