Indian Battlefields (Tour Code: IN/021) – India is also known for its valour that surpasses the bravery of world’s most brave battles and the war heroes who are revered as Gods till date. There are clans that still take pride to call themselves warrior clans. We take you on this 12/13 days tour to show you the battlefields of Panipat, Haldighati, Buxar, Chausa and Plassey.
Itinerary
Day 01 Arrival day in Delhi
On arrival in Delhi, our representative will meet, assist and transfer you to hotel. In the evening you can visit the colorful bazaars of Chandni Chowk. Back to hotel. Welcome dinner along with discussion with expert guide. Overnight at the hotel in Delhi.
Day 02 Delhi – Panipat – Delhi
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast drive to Panipat (130 kms / 2.5 hrs) visiting historical Kala Amb (black mango) tree site which stood as a mark of the place from where Sadashiv Rao Bhau led his Maratha troops during the Third Battle of Panipat. It is now marked with a black iron pillar. Also visit Kabuli Bagh and Ibrahim Lodi’s Tomb. In the first battle of Panipat, Babur was victorious against Ibrahim Lodi who lies buried in a tomb at Panipat. This tomb is very simple and is simply a rectangular block on a high platform that has some steps constructed from lakhori bricks. In 1866, the British renovated this tomb and added an inscription that mentioned Ibrahim Lodi’s defeat by Babur. Salar Jung Gate is also worth seeing which is a testimony to the historical importance to Nawab Salar Jung of Hyderabad. Panipat museum is also must see which has a rich source of information on archaeology, history, and arts and crafts of Haryana. Back to hotel by evening. Overnight at the hotel in Delhi.
Day 03 Delhi – Agra – Delhi
Early morning transfer to Railway station in time to connect your early morning train to Agra (180 kms / 2.5 hrs). Arrive Agra and full day visit to Taj Mahal – A symbol of eternal love. Later visit majestic Agra Fort. In the evening transfer to railway station in time to connect your evening train to Delhi (180 kms /2.5 hrs). Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Delhi.
Day 04 Delhi / Udaipur
Breakfast at the hotel. Later transfer to airport in time to connect your late morning flight to Udaipur (1.5 hrs). Arrive Udaipur and transfer to hotel. Check in at the hotel and day up to lunch at leisure. Post lunch visit City Palace Museum. Evening cruise through the placid waters of Lake Pichola at sunset. Dinner will be served on your private boat. Back to hotel and overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.
Day 05 Udaipur – Haldighati – Udaipur
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast excursion to Haldighati (40 kms /1 hr) – a merciless battlefield of Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar and Raja Man Singh of Amber. A beautiful Chhatri (Cenotaph) with white marble columns, dedicated to Rana Pratap stands here. The famous battlefield of Haldighati is marked by a small Chhatri (cenotaph) which commemorates the warrior’s horse Chetak. Although badly wounded and exhausted, this brave horse carried Maharana Pratap to safety before collapsing and dying. It is for this loyalty and courage that Chetak is honored. After visiting glorious battlefield of Haldighati, back to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.
Day 06 Udaipur / Patna
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to airport in time to connect your morning flight to Patna via Delhi. Arrive Patna and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Patna.
Day 07 Patna – Buxar – Chausa – Buxar – Patna
Early breakfast and check out from the hotel and drive to Buxar (150 kms /3 hrs). Reach Buxar and visit Chausa (10 kms)- a place where historic war was fought in which Sher Shah defeated Mughal Emperor Humayun in 1539 AD. We will arrange special interaction with local people of Chausa to reveal the gallantry story of Sher Shah. Later visiting promonent places in Buxar like Katkauli Ka Maidan where the historic Battle of Buxar was fought in 1764 between the command of the Brttish east India Company and the combines armies of Nawab of Bengal, Awadh and mughal Emperor. You can also explore Buxar Fort and Sita Ram Upadhyaya Museum. You can see some rare stone sculptures and coins adorn in museum. Hundreds of very impressive terracottas, collected by a local resident Late Sita Ram Upadhyaya, were later donated to the museum can be seen here. Later transfer back to Patna and overnight at hotel in Patna.
Day 08 Patna / Kolkata
Post breakfast we check-out and transfer to airport in Patna in time to connect our flight to Kolkata. Arrive Kolkata and transfer to hotel. Check in at hotel in Kolkata and day up to lunch at leisure. Post lunch visit white marble Victoria Memorial with its fine picture collection. Later you have an option to visit the local markets. Back to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Kolkata.
Day 09 Kolkata / Berhampore
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Berhampore (250 kms / 5 hrs). Reach Berhampore and check in at the hotel. Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Berhampore.
Day 10 Berhampore – Plassey – Berhampore
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast visit Plassey (50 kms / 1 hr)- A place of great historical importance where a battle was fought between the British and the last Nawabs of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. A memorial was erected by Lord Curzon at the mango groves where the actual battle took place. Back to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Berhampore.
Day 11 Berhampore / Barrackpore / Kolkata
After an early breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Kolkata. En route visiting colonial places such as Sreerampore, Bandel and Chuchura. You will also visit Barrackpore – a place of historical significance in many ways and the revolt for Independence of 1857 got off to a start from here, by the legendary martyr Mangal Pandey. Reach Kolkata by dinner, check-in at hotel and overnight at the hotel in Kolkata.
Day 12 Kolkata / Home
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast we will check-out and transfer to airport in time to connect our flight back home. OR Take an extension to Dhauligiri to visit the war fields of the Battle of Kalinga (261 BC) between Ashoka and Kalinga. We will fly to Bhubaneshwar, visit the Peace Memorial (14 km from Bhubaneshwar). Take an evening flight back to Kolkata and then fly back home or stay for yet another night in Kolkata.
